About EnergyAE
Engineering excellence in clean energy technology modelling & simulation.
Our story
Excellence through experience
EnergyAE was founded with the goal to optimise energy efficiency in thermal energy systems through advanced modelling and simulation techniques. Our team combines decades of experience in thermal engineering, software simulation, and government policy navigation.
Our team
Meet our experts
Our team brings together experience in thermal engineering, software simulation, and energy policy.

Alastair McDowell
Co-DirectorAlastair is the managing director of EnergyAE and has over 10 years' experience in mechanical engineering sciences computational fluids dynamics (CFD) and transient system analysis. Alastair has significant experience modelling buildings, water heaters, PV systems and batteries.

Finn Petersen
Engineering Consultant Finn is a mechanical engineer with expertise in heat transfer, finite element analysis and fluid mechanics. He has experience modelling thermal systems, including heat pump water heaters, and is knowledgeable on Australian incentive schemes. He has significant research experience developed through his Masters of Engineering.

Fiona Parenti
Principal Consultant Fiona has vast experience in solar products, R&D, consulting, numerical modelling and laboratory test services, particularly in the area of solar and heat pump water heaters. Her extensive academic and numerical modelling skills were honed during her PhD at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Harry Newman
Engineering ConsultantHarry is a mechanical engineer with a background in building services and current focus on energy systems and heat pump development. His experience includes transient system analysis using TRNSYS, developing control schemes for heat pumps, and delivering projects across HVAC, hydraulic, and civil disciplines from design to commissioning.

Jeremy Osborne
Co-DirectorJeremy has designed many renewable energy systems including solar thermal heating, cooling, power generation, PV systems and building energy. He was lead engineer for the award-winning UTS solar driven tri-generation project in Sydney, and is heavily involved in the development of standards on solar energy.

David Muchiri
Engineering ConsultantDavid is a mechanical engineer with expertise in mathematical modelling, computational fluid dynamics, numerical analysis and R&D. He has both academic and industrial experience in simulating transient systems, renewable energy systems, and heat and mass transfer. David holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Canterbury.
